The frontman has been restricted to mainly substitute appearances in recent weeks and has now departed Latimer Park.

Sandy became a favourite amongst the Poppies supporters after first joining the club during the 2013-14 campaign and helping Kettering reach the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central play-off final.

He left to join Dunstable Town but then returned in October, 2014 and went on to score 16 goals as the Poppies were crowned champions of the Division One Central last year.

He was retained by Marcus Law last summer but has found starts increasingly difficult to come by recently.

Sandy took to social media to confirm his departure and said: “I just want to thank everybody involved with Kettering Town FC for such a fantastic time with the club.

“I built up a real rapport with the fans, winning the league and being part of taking the club back to where it belongs will stay with me forever.

“This season I feel I have been hard done by, can’t believe only two (Brett Solkhon and Gary Mulligan) now remain from the title winning squad but no hard feelings, this is football.

“I’m sure I will be back playing against you down the line. Respect to all the fans, you have been great.”
