Having battled out a 1-1 draw with fellow title contenders Halesowen Town at the weekend, the Steelmen followed it up with a 3-1 success at St Neots Town in a re-arranged fixture last night (Tuesday).

Goals from Steve Diggin, James Ireland and Jordon Crawford wrapped up another win, which sent Corby three points clear at the summit after they had surrendered top spot to Berkhamsted on Saturday.

With Halesowen also victorious last night, they still have the games in hand to overhaul the top two.

But joint-boss Robinson was just pleased to see his team get back on the winning trail.

“It was a really good win on the road,” he said.

“In the first 10 or 15 minutes we didn’t start that well to be honest but we came into the game and got used to their shape.

“We started to play a bit of football and once we did that, there was only one team in it.

“You have to give credit to them because they are a young side who like to play football and they do things in the right way.

“But we matched their work-rate and desire and, from there, we brought our own ability out and that helped us to win the game.

“We scored some great goals, we got three points and back to winning ways so it was happy days from our point of view.”

The Steelmen are back on home soil at the weekend when they take on Daventry Town in a county derby at Steel Park.
