Ramshaw: Poppies have made it a little bit difficult

John Ramshaw has admitted Kettering Town have made it ' a little bit difficult' for themselves as their hopes of claiming an Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division faded at the weekend.

The Poppies suffered a 2-1 defeat to Chesham United at Latimer Park on Saturday and the defeat now leaves them 11 points off the top five with just 10 games to go.

And while assistant-boss Ramshaw refused to say that their season is now over, he conceded things have now become that bit harder.

“We have said it for weeks now that it’s not over until the fat lady sings,” he said.

“But I think we have made things a little bit difficult for ourselves by dropping three points.

“But we have to keep going. We will pick ourselves up, dust ourselves down and keep going because what else can we do.

“We are not going to concede that the season is over and we are not going to give in without a fight. We have to keep going and keep hoping.”

Ramshaw, meanwhile, refused to be too critical of goalkeeper Paul White after he was sent-off deep into stoppage-time after he raced from his goal to hack down Ryan Blake who was racing away on the counter-attack.

White is now facing at least a one-match ban and Ramshaw said: “Paul conceded that it was probably a rush of blood.

“What he did, he did for the team and we won’t criticise him for it.

“But it now means that, instead of conceding a third goal, we are going to be without our first-choice goalkeeper for one game but maybe three depending on the referee’s report.”

The Poppies return to action at the weekend when they make the long trip to Weymouth.
