Kettering Town are set to unveil their first summer signings this weekend but boss Paul Cox insists: “we’re far from done!”

The Poppies squad will be put through their paces in an open training session at Latimer Park from 12.30pm tomorrow (Saturday) with fans being invited to come along and watch, although social distancing measures will apply.

The first new faces Cox has added to his squad will be on show as the preparations for the next National League North campaign get under way.

But the Poppies manager fully expects the shape of his squad to “develop” once his team are back in full pre-season training from next weekend.

So, will the Kettering fans be happy with the first of his new additions?

“I’d like to think so,” Cox said.

“I would like to think that some of the players we have brought in will whet the appetite.

“But it’s still early days in terms of the development of the squad. We are still talking to a number of players.

“We are far from done and the more we get into pre-season, the more things will develop.

“I think the fans will like what they see but it’s like anything though isn’t it? The proof will be in the pudding from the day we kick-off the new season.

“For us, this weekend is another fitness day but it will be a good chance for the supporters to mingle with some familiar faces and some of the new ones as well. It should be a really good day.

“There will be the players from last season who have signed up and a few others we have got in and the fans will have the chance to come in and see the players put through their paces.”

Cox had already confirmed that Brett Solkhon, Luke Graham, Michael McGrath and Ben Milnes had been retained from last season while Gary Stohrer, Michael Richens, Connor Kennedy and Tre Mitford are all under contract.

The open session will be held at Latimer Park between 12.30pm and 2pm tomorrow.

Due to the current government guidelines for Covid19 the number of fans allowed to view the session will be limited to group sizes of 20.

The viewing area will be limited to the new terrace at the car park end of the ground. Socially distanced standing areas will be marked out. Fans are reminded to stay within the marked zones.

The allocated time for viewing will be determined based on the demand on the day.

Entry to the ground will be via an issued ticket which will be available free of charge on the day and entry groups determined on a first come first served basis. Tickets can be requested from the bar staff.

The club have implemented a one-way system for entry and exit of the ground which all fans must follow.
