The 19-year-old stopper joined the Poppies on a one-month youth loan deal from Sky Bet League Two club Luton Town yesterday to provide cover while Paul White serves a three-match ban following his red card during last weekend’s 3-1 home defeat to Chesham United.

Gootch is set to take over between the sticks for today’s long trek to Weymouth, which is definitely on following a pitch inspection this morning.

Gootch is no stranger to the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division having featured for Hitchin Town earlier this season and he kept a clean sheet against the Poppies in a 0-0 draw.

Luton goalkeeper coach Kevin Dearden said: “Liam benefited a lot from his spell with Hitchin earlier this season and this will be another great experience for him with a big club at Step 3 of the non-League pyramid.”
