Poppies back on home soil to take on Redditch
Marcus Law is hoping Kettering Town will pick the right time to finally sort their home form out when they take on Redditch United at Latimer Park tonight (Tuesday).
The Poppies are set to be in action on home soil in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division for the first time since they beat Weymouth 3-1 on October 22.
Kettering’s inconsistent form in the first half of the season has left them off the pace as far as the play-off places are concerned.
But they head into this evening’s game on the back of a three-match unbeaten run in the league with their latest outing being a 0-0 draw at high-flying Hitchin Town at the weekend.
Now Law is hoping the Poppies can start picking up points at home as they bid to force their way back into the hunt for the top five.
Tonight’s game is followed by another home clash with Dorchester Town on Saturday.
And Law said: “The lads have already earmarked this week.
“They know we have got to turn our home form around.
“Redditch had a bit of a strange start because they were changing venues for their home matches and that would unsettle anyone.
“I am sure they will want to put things right after we stuck three past them but I just want us concentrating on ourselves and on what we are doing.
“When you see what we have done away from home, it shows what we we could potentially be doing in the league if we’d got things right on our own ground.
“We have to adapt the way we have been playing away and do it at home.
“And we have to show that grit and no nonsense approach we have had recently and if we can apply that then hopefully our quality can shine through.”
Having been able to name just four substitutes at the weekend, Law is expecting to have strikers Matthew Barnes-Homer and Aaron O’Connor available for this evening’s clash.
