Peaks wants Diamonds' performances turned into points

Diamonds have suffered two defeats in a row in the BetVictor Southern League Premier Central after they were beaten 2-1 at fellow play-off chasers Banbury United last Saturday.

The two losses have seen Peaks’ team drop to 11th place in the table, although they remain just four points off the top five with games in hand on many of their rivals.

With 12 games still to go, Peaks is staying focused on his aims for the campaign.

But he admits it has been frustrating to see the last two performances ultimately go unrewarded when it comes to points on the board.

“We are desperate to get some points, we have gone two games without any despite two half-decent performances against good sides who are up there,” the Diamonds boss said.

“There has been no disgrace in the performance of the players but I am really looking to start getting more points on the board.

“We know how tough this one will be at Needham Market because they have beaten us twice at home this season (in the league and the Challenge Cup) so I am not underestimating what awaits us.

“I have been pretty pleased with the last couple of displays and it’s frustrating to have nothing to show for them.

“But we have the game at the weekend and then hopefully it will be Saturday-Tuesday for us and we will be able to get a bit of momentum.

“We have got 12 games left and I would have still taken the position we find ourselves in now at the start of the season.

“When we are at it and we make good decisions in both boxes then we are a good match for anyone. So I am still confident we can pick some points up in the last 12 games.

“My original remit was to do better than last season (ninth place) and that’s still the first task. Then it’s a question of whether we can get more points (61, currently on 49) and then the next one after that is seeing if we can get into the play-offs.

“Those are the boxes I want to tick and we will try our best to achieve it.”
