Peaks pleased to see Diamonds show their credentials

The routine win came seven days after Diamonds had slumped to a shock 4-0 defeat at Beaconsfield SYCOB.

However, they recovered with a 2-1 win against Brackley Town in the NFA Hillier Cup last Tuesday and then followed that up with another accomplished display at the Dog & Duck.

Saturday’s success sent Andy Peaks’ side three points clear at the top of the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central after Chalfont St Peter suffered a 3-1 defeat at Kings Langley.

Peaks was pleased to see his team get over their “blip” quickly and he insists he will stay focused on his own side before looking at any other results.

The Diamonds boss said: “We have said all along that teams are going to have blips, us included.

“Last week was one but this time we have gone and shown that we are still capable of mounting a serious challenge, which is where we want to be.

“I will keep worrying about us. Any results we get from elsewhere are great.

“But it’s all about us looking after ourselves. I have said that from day one and I’ll keep on saying it until the end of the season.”

Diamonds are now preparing for another home game tomorrow (Tuesday) night as they take on Arlesey Town in a re-arranged fixture after the original clash at the start of last month was abandoned at half-time following a torrential downpour.

It was all-square at 0-0 when the weather intervened and Peaks knows his team will need to be ready for a tricky test.

“It’s another game and Arlesey asked a few questions of us in the one that was abandoned,” he added.

“We will have to be ready for them. I have got a report on them that we will go through and we will give them the respect they deserve but we will be looking for another three points.”
