Second-half goals from Tom Lorraine and Jack Ashton, with his first of the season, wrapped up another win for Diamonds as they moved eight points clear at the top of the Evo-Stik South League East.

The finishing line is now almost in sight as Peaks’ team target one of the two automatic promotion places.

They are now 10 points clear of third-placed AFC Dunstable and that gap could widen further when the two sides meet in a huge game at Hayden Road on Tuesday night.

But Peaks was delighted with to see his side record a second win this week as they followed up last Tuesday’s 6-0 success over Thame United with a 13th away league victory.

“I felt we were quite comfortable really,” the Diamonds boss said.

“We managed the game well and played the conditions well and, to be honest, it could have been more than 2-0 in the end.

“We played well in the first half without scoring from the two or three good opportunities we created.

“But the message at half-time was to just to keep doing the same things, keep things tight at the back and to be patient.

“Getting the goal so quickly in the second half was perfect and we managed things well from that point and to get the second goal rounded it off nicely.

“We are another three points closer to where we want to be.

“We had the setback at Egham and since then, the reaction has been exactly what we wanted.

“It has been a very good week for us and we are in a good place.

“We just have to keep it going into the next game.”
