The Diamonds boss was delighted with what he described as a “clinical” display from his team as they hammered Arlesey Town 6-1 at the Dog & Duck last night (Tuesday).

Having fallen behind to an early Lewis Wilson goal, Andy Hall hit a hat-trick while Lewis Leslie, Tom Lorraine and Shawn Richards added the others as Diamonds followed up the 3-0 success over Ware at the weekend with another impressive display.

With none of their rivals playing, the victory resulted in Peaks’ side opening up a six-point lead at the top of the table.

And, as he reflected on another good job done, the manager said: “I think we are in a good position, I must admit that.

“Some of the other teams could still overtake us if they win all of their games in hand. But all we can do is keep winning.

“I thought we were clinical. We suffered the disappointment of conceding an early goal but I always felt confident we would get back into it.

“If you are going to concede a bad goal it’s better to do it early when there’s plenty of time left and we kept doing what we have been doing for the past few weeks. We are on a bit of a roll and we came good again.

“Going in 2-1 up at half-time, it was important we didn’t concede again and they did look quite bright going forward at times.

“But we managed the game really well. We opened them up plenty of times and we were clinical towards the end.”

Peaks, meanwhile, was full of praise for winger Hall who hit a second hat-trick for the club, although he felt there were plenty of other positive performances from his players.

“I thought Andy showed lots of quality,” he added.

“He wasn’t playing a few weeks ago and he was moaning about it! I told him he had to wait for his chance and I think he epitomises what I say to everyone.

“It’s up to them to take their chance when it comes and he has done just that.

“But there were a lot of good performances

“Jack Ashton coming back has been a lift for everyone, having Dan Quigley back on the scene has been a big boost and Jon Stevenson and Tom Lorraine have been linking up well in attack.”
