Jon Mitchell enjoyed a winning start as manager of Wellingborough Town as they moved out of the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division relegation zone with a 3-1 victory at local rivals Rothwell Corinthians.
The Doughboys took the lead thanks to an Adam Speight header and doubled their advantage on 31 minutes through Daniel Uche.
Joe Wright pulled a goal back for the hosts as they took control of the second half but Wellingborough sealed their victory with 16 minutes to go when debutant James Tricks broke clear and finished well.
Desborough Town were on the end of a fine fightback from Newport Pagnell and a superb individual effort by Fazel Koriya as he hit all four goals in the hosts’ 4-2 win.
Ar Tarn started brilliantly as Marvin Hill and Nathan Arnold put them 2-0 up inside 16 minutes.
Koriya pulled one back 10 minutes before half-time and he then scored two quickfire goals after the break to put the home side in front.
And he rounded off a fine individual effort when he made the game safe with 15 minutes to go.
Stewarts & Lloyds moved back into second place in Division One as they won the big game of the day at Occupation Road.
David Sheridan’s goal on 25 minutes proved to be enough for the Foundrymen as they leapfrogged opponents Potton United.
The local derby at Alfred Street went emphatically in the favour of in-form hosts Irchester United as a fine second-half display earned them a 4-1 success over Thrapston Town.
The visitors held a 1-0 half-time lead thanks to Jedd Whiteman’s early goal.
But the Romans levelled through Sam Dengel nine minutes into the second half and Ryan Lovell put them in front soon after.
And Lovell went on to take the matchball as he completed his hat-trick with two further goals to round off the victory.
Rushden & Higham United’s poor run of late continued as they went down 4-1 at Long Buckby.
Simon Barby put the hosts in front in the first half but Jon Tite equalised eight minutes into the second period.
However, Buckby ran away with things in the final half-hour thanks to Ed Kostiuk’s penalty and further goals from Manny Salumu and Barby.
Raunds Town completed a double over Bourne Town with a fine 3-0 away success.
Nick Harrison opened the scoring and Karl King doubled the advantage before half-time.
And Jamie Russell wrapped up the three points in the 70th minute.
Whitworth made it seven points from the last nine with a 2-0 home win over Bugbrooke.
Ant Lawrence gave the Flourmen the lead four minutes before half-time and Matty Judge doubled the advantage to secure the success after the break.
A goal in each half condemned Burton Park Wanderers to a 2-1 defeat to Buckingham Town at Latimer Park.
Sean Bishop broke the deadlock for the visitors but Blayne Chester brought bottom side Wanderers level before half-time.
However, Bishop struck again after 68 minutes and that proved to be enough for Buckingham.
