Ian Walker has been appointed the new manager of Desborough Town.

Walker left his job as boss of ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Division One side Thrapston Town on Wednesday night to take over at the Premier Division outfit, who have been without a permanent manager since Steve Walker resigned.

A statement from Desborough said: “Ian Walker has been appointed to be the new first team manager of Desborough Town.

“Ian, previously manager at Thrapston, will take over immediately at the club where he had a successful playing career.

“We warmly welcome him and look forward to a strong and viable working relationship which we believe will enable the club to move forward.

“We are also grateful for the interest shown by all other applicants for the post.”

In their own statement, Thrapston confirmed they will be taking applications for the now vacant first team manager’s job.

The Division One club’s statement said: “Thrapston Town can confirm that this evening (Wednesday), Ian Walker was offered and accepted the Desborough Town first team manager position.

“The club would like to thank Ian for his time at Chancery Lane and everyone wishes Ian the very best of success at his new club.

“Departing alongside Ian will be Chris Bradshaw and Gary Christie who were very much part of our club and like Ian, we wish them good luck also.”

Anyone who wants to apply for the vacant job at Thrapston should email club secretary Cathy Stevens at cathy.stevens@uwclub.net with details of their experience by Monday, December 2.
