Michael Byrne hit a 16-minute hat-trick for Desborough Town but they were the victims of a fine fightback from Newport Pagnell in the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division.
Hosts Newport were 1-0 up at the break thanks to Danny Nicholls’ goal but Byrne took centre-stage in the second half.
He levelled seven minutes after the restart and, almost immediately, put his side in front before completing his treble on 68 minutes.
However, there was a sting in the tail for Ar Tarn, who are still unbeaten in the league this season, as Lee Jones pulled a goal back before Lukasz Filipiak sealed the 3-3 draw.
Wellingborough Town had to settle for a point but they missed a chance for all three as they drew 1-1 at Peterborough Northern Star.
The hosts took the lead through Danny Woods but the Doughboys drew level when Jamie Wright’s free-kick was fumbled into his own net by home goalkeeper Lee Crockett.
Wellingborough had the chance to win it from the penalty spot after a handball in the area but Jason Taylor hit the post from 12 yards.
It was a bad day for Stewarts & Lloyds as they were beaten 4-0 at Deeping, who moved into the top three as a result.
Mitch Griffiths put the hosts in front but S&L performed well after that and Jamie O’Neill forced James Doughty into a fine save before hitting the post with the rebound.
But Deeping doubled their lead early in the second half through Dan Flack and further goals from Griffiths and Spencer Tinkler completed the scoring.
Jon Tite was the hero for Rushden & Higham as they claimed the bragging rights in their Division One derby at Burton Park Wanderers.
Burton’s four-match winning run was ended as the Lankies ran out 3-0 winners at Latimer Park and the returning Tite put the visitors 1-0 up at the break.
He added a second with five minutes left and new signing Harry May rounded off a good day for Aidy Mann’s side a minute later.
Elsewhere, it was a bad day for the local sides in the second tier.
Managerless Rothwell Corinthians put up a good fight in the first half at Eynesbury but ended up on the wrong end of a 5-1 scoreline.
The hosts took the lead through Lee Bassett but Corinthians drew level before the break thanks to Brett Rosella.
Jack Weeden restored Eynesbury’s lead and the visitors’ resistance was broken on 74 minutes when Bassett grabbed his second. And Ben Cole’s late double completed the scoring.
Irchester United are still waiting for their first win of the season as they went down 5-3 at Bourne.
Ryan Lovell gave the Romans the lead but it turned into the Alex Robinson show for the hosts after that.
Robinson levelled and then put the hosts in front with a penalty before Danny Pick made it 3-1 before half-time.
Lovell pulled a goal back but Robinson’s completed his hat-trick almost immediately and then scored his fourth to end the contest, despite Matt Judge grabbed a late consolation for the visitors.
Having thumped Peterborough Sports in midweek, Thrapston Town were on the end of a heavy defeat this time as Lutterworth Athletic won 4-0 at Chancery Lane thanks to goals from Adam Laywood, Mark English, Danny Laywood and Nathan Bedford.
Whitworth went down 2-0 at leaders Oadby Town, who made it seven wins from eight matches.
Both goals came in the first half-an-hour as the Flourmen fell behind to Pradeep Bahrey’s goal before Jon Stevenson added the second from the penalty spot.
