Rothwell Corinthians boss Shaun Sparrow has told his players only their best will be good enough when Division One’s form sides clash tomorrow (Saturday).
Four straight wins have lifted Corinthians up to fifth in the table while Olney Town are also firing on all cylinders.
They go into the weekend having won their last three, scoring 19 goals in the process.
And Sparrow knows his players have to find top gear at Olney – and when Northampton Spencer visit Sergeants Lawn on Tuesday night.
He said: “We’ve been grinding out results and doing just enough to win games and now we need to find fourth and fifth gear.
“The next few games will tell us where we are.
“We’ve got a tough week coming up but these are the matches you want to be involved in.
“If we play our best, I’m more than confident of our chances against anybody but, as we’ve seen this season, any team can take points off you.”
Corinthians needed a late goal from Dom Paige to see off strugglers Burton Park Wanderers in midweek.
And Sparrow added: “Burton make it hard to play against them and we had to show our character to win.
“I think we looked a bit jaded but we found a way when we weren’t at our best and I have to be pleased with that.”
A couple of local derbies catch the eye in Division One this weekend with important points up for grabs for different reasons.
It will be third versus sixth at London Road as Whitworth take on Raunds Town, who were beaten 4-3 at Bourne Town in midweek.
At the other end of the scale, strugglers Rushden & Higham and Burton Park face each other at Hayden Road.
Stewarts & Lloyds are still searching for their first point of the season and they face a tough test at ON Chenecks.
