The result of the day in Division One of the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League came at Alfred Street as struggling Irchester United stunned high-flying ON Chenecks with a 3-2 success.
The visitors came into the clash on the back of a 14-match unbeaten run but the Romans took a 2-0 lead in the first half thanks to Nathan Heycock and Sam Dengel.
Dengel grabbed what would prove to be a crucial third on 75 minutes as Chenecks responded with goals from Adam Hancock and Calvin Budd late on.
But they were unable to find an equaliser as Steve Sargent’s men picked up their fourth win of the campaign.
Rothwell Corinthians’ impressive season so far continued as they made it eight wins from nine matches with a 4-2 victory over Blackstones at Sergeants Lawn.
The hosts made a blistering start with Dom Page putting them in front before Chris Clarke and Merson Styles made it 3-0.
Declan Carr pulled one back before the break and Addie Staffieri gave Blackstones real hope when he scored to make it 3-2 after half-time.
But Cortinthians’ win was confirmed when Clarke struck again in the last minute.
Raunds Town gained revenge for their defeat at Olney Town earlier in the season with a 1-0 success at Kiln Park.
Jamie Russell was the Shopmates’ match-winner as his goal three minutes before half-time proved decisive.
Rushden & Higham United went down 1-0 at Bourne Town.
Scott Spearking grabbed the only goal of the game after 74 minutes while the Lankies’ misery was complete when Jory Mann was sent off.
Burton Park Wanderers were no match for in-form Potton United, who ran out 4-0 winners at Latimer Park.
Gary Ansell-Carter’s first-half brace had the visitors 2-0 up at the break and he completed the scoring and his hat-trick after Ash Yeomans had made it 3-0 in the second period.
