Irchester United boss Steve Sargent velieves his side are “looking good” ahead of a big game at Alfred Street this weekend.
The Romans host Thrapston Town in a Division One local derby tomorrow (Saturday).
And Sargent says his side’s improved recent form will be put to the test by their neighbours.
He said: “They’ve picked up a few lads like Chris Hope and Ben Freeman and they are all very good players.
“They are only going to make Thrapston better.
“But we’ve been finding some form and it’s looking good for Saturday.
“I’m hoping to field an unchanged side for the first time this season.
“When you beat Peterborough Sports and keep a clean sheet, you only change things if you have to and it looks like I don’t have to.”
That win over Sports – secured by a Mapeo Mendes strike – was possibly the Romans’ best result of the season.
They remain fourth from bottom but appear out of danger and Sargent says he’s planning for the future.
He said: “I got a three-year deal when I came to the club last May and the plan is to get better every season.
“But this is a tough division. The teams that go up from Division One are the ones that have big budgets and because of where we are, a lot of teams go after good players in the area when they become available.
“We haven’t got the budget to compete with them.
“But if we can keep improving every season and maybe push on a few players and help them play at higher level, we will be happy with that.”
Goals from Matt Judge and Remy Brittain gave promotion-chasing Whitworth a 2-1 win at ON Chenecks on Tuesday and the Flourmen have another big game this weekend when they head to fellow high-fliers Peterborough Sports.
Rothwell Corinthians, fresh from a 3-0 success at Burton Park Wanderers in midweek which came courtesy of Jordan Henson, Kyle Locklin and Ryan Goodband, host leaders Northampton Spencer.
Stewarts & Lloyds suffered their 25th defeat in as many league matches when they were beaten 3-0 at St Neots Saints on Tuesday and they take on Raunds Town tomorrow.
Wanderers entertain Blackstones while Rushden & Higham face Bugbrooke at Hayden Road.
