AFC Rushden & Diamonds will be promoted if they avoid defeat against rock-bottom Long Buckby at the Dog & Duck this afternoon (Monday).

With a top-three finish above Holbeach United being required to secure elevation, the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division leaders will be looking to wrap up that part of the equation today.

They will be heavy favourites to see off struggling Buckby and, at the very least, maintain their seven-point advantage at the summit.

In what is just their second season in the UCL’s top flight, Andy Peaks’ side will also hope to go on and wrap up the title.

And their hopes of doing that received a boost even without them playing at the weekend when second-placed Wisbech Town were thrashed 5-1 in their game in hand at Desborough Town.

Ar Tarn will be hoping to follow that superb victory up today when they take on relegation-threatened local rivals Harborough Town at the Waterworks Field.

It’s a day of derbies in Division One with the action getting under way at Chancery Lane as Thrapston Town take on Burton Park Wanderers (2pm).

In the 3pm kick-offs, Whitworth entertain Rushden & Higham, who claimed a superb 5-1 victory over Buckingham Town at the weekend.

Raunds Town host Irchester United, who are on a four-game winning streak, while bottom side Stewarts & Lloyds face high-flying Peterborough Sports at Occupation Road.
