AFC Rushden & Diamonds were knocked out of the NFA Hillier Senior Cup after a thrilling seven-goal contest with Brackley Town at the Dog & Duck.

A much-changed Diamonds side found themselves 3-0 down inside the first 15 minutes as a Sam Brown own-goal and strikes from Greg Kaziboni and Will Green put the visitors in control.

Jason Turner reduced the arrears and Diamonds were back in it when Brad Harris’ diving header made it 3-2.

However, Michael Built hit a fourth for Brackley before the break and Diamonds could only respond with a Scott Joseph goal in the second period.

Rothwell Corinthians’ impressive recent form continued as they moved into the top five in Division One of the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League with a 2-1 success over Burton Park Wanderers at Sergeants Lawn.

The hosts had to wait until 10 minutes into the second half to take the lead as Jordan Henson scored from the penalty spot.

But Wanderers responded well and levelled thanks to a fine shot into the roof of the net from Josh Bamsey.

However, Corinthians won it eight minutes from the end when Dom Page hit the decisive goal.

A late fightback fell short for Raunds Town as they were beaten 4-3 at Bourne Town.

The Shopmates were 4-0 down with 13 minutes to go as the hosts struck through Henry Dunn (2), Aaron Jesson and Harley Williams.

But Raunds hit back through Jed Ainge, Lewis Hallford and Dave Townsend in the latter stages to set up a tense finale.
