There were mixed fortunes for the local ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division clubs in the Knockout Cup.

AFC Rushden & Diamonds had few problems in brushing aside Division One srugglers Burton Park Wanderers by a 7-1 scoreline at Latimer Park.

Adam Confue gave Andy Peaks’ side an early lead but that was cancelled out by Shane Hawkes’ free-kick.

However, Russ Dunkley and Jason Turner ensured Diamonds had a 3-1 cushion at the break.

And there was no let up after half-time as Turner completed his hat-trick before Tom Lorraine got in on the act. And it was Dunkley who rounded it off six minutes from full-time.

Desborough Town also saw off Division One opposition as they edged out Woodford United 2-1 at the Waterworks Field.

Phil Cassidy put the hosts 1-0 up at the break but Woodford levelled through Tommy Waldock.

However, Desborough responded almost immediately with Ryan Duffy’s own-goal proving to be the winner.

There was a shock for Wellingborough Town, however, as they were beaten 4-2 by Division One outfit Olney Town after extra-time at the Dog & Duck.

The Doughboys seemed to be cruising into the next round when Jake Newman fired them into a 2-0 half-time lead.

Christian Smail brought Olney back into it after the break and they forced an extra 30 minutes thanks to Daryl Smith’s long-range effort.

And the visitors won it in the extra period with Dean Torto’s strike to make it 3-2 being quickly followed by the fourth from Craig Malisiri.
