The Brakes put in a seven-day approach for the frontman, who has scored seven goals in Poppies colours this season.

And he chose to join Leamington at the end of last week, just a few days after Kettering had announced that Spencer Weir-Daley had joined them on loan from Corby Town for the remainder of the campaign.

“I know Leamington have always liked him and it is more local for him,” Law said.

“With Spencer coming in, the competition for places has increased and an opportunity presented itself to Courtney and he decided that it would suit him.

“There are certainly no hard feelings from my point of view.”

Law, meanwhile, has jumped to the defence of another striker Rene Howe who has come in for criticism from sections of the Poppies support having scored just twice since returning to the club in November.

Law believes Howe has more than played his part, although he admitted: “Of course, we would like Rene to score more goals.

“But there has been a general consistency in the goals coming from other areas because of his presence.

“I think we have scored 12 goals from others getting in and around him and that’s a strength we didn’t have before he joined us.”

One striker who has not featured for a number of weeks now is Dubi Ogbonna and Law revealed he is currently unavailable due to a foot injury.

Weir-Daley, meanwhile, is standing by to finally make his debut for the club this weekend.
