The striker’s initial month-long stint at Steel Park ended nearly two weeks ago as he returned to parent club Bradford Park Avenue.

The Steelmen were due to play at Bradford at the weekend but the Vanarama National League North clash was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

In the build-up, Corby announced two new signings with left-back Tommy Cooney joining from Boston United, with Ben O’Hanlon’s loan stint from Wolves not being extended, while former Steelman Tom Manship also arrived following a successful trial.

But Wright has hinted that he may be about to tweak his squad further this week ahead of Saturday’s home clash with Tamworth.

And he admitted McDonald isn’t off the radar just yet.

He said: “I don’t think the Massiah one is dead in the water yet. We will probably know a bit more in the next day or so.

“I would like to get him back through the door but I am under a budget and that’s something I have to look at.

“With Ben, it is difficult because he was on a youth loan which didn’t cost us anything but with him not coming back, it means we need a left back so we have had to go and bring one in.

“We need to balance the books and it is a case of us maybe having to ship one out to bring one in.

“Having said that, there may be another potential signing in the pipeline for us before the weekend.

“I do believe we have a good mix of players here, who are capable of making us effective in two or three different formations.

“But we need to get playing again so we can see it in action.”

The Steelmen remain a point adrift of safety in the league table while the only game in the division to go ahead at the weekend saw one of their relegation rivals Brackley Town claim a 2-1 victory at Tamworth.
