Tommy Wright will rest some of his Corby Town first-team squad for their latest pre-season outing at Harborough Town tonight (Tuesday).
The trip to Bowdens Park is followed at the weekend by the much-anticipated Steel Park Cup, which will see the Steelmen crossing swords with a Liverpool XI, a PSV Eindhoven XI and Porto B.
Wright’s team will play two matches in two days - one on Saturday and one on Sunday - in the tournament.
And he has admitted that will have a knock-on effect as to what team he fields against the ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division side this evening.
However, a number of the first-team squad will be involved including the likes of Spencer Weir-Daley, Greg Mills and Ben Milnes while Jorrin John will also play as he looks to earn a move back to Corby.
Wright said: “I spoke to a few of the boys after the game on Saturday and some of them have played a few more minutes than they may have expected over the past 10 days or so.
“We have two games in two days coming up next weekend and we are going to need a fully refreshed and big squad available for that.
“We will probably rest four or five of them for the game at Harborough and make sure we get minutes into those who need it.
“But, if you look at the guys who will play, it still looks like a very strong squad we will take over there and I expect them to carry on from where we left off on Saturday.
“It is an opportunity for some of them to stake their claim.”
