Corby Town have signed former Worcester City central defender Aaron Brown.
Steelmen boss Tommy Wright has made his move for the 32-year-old 6ft 5in centre-half just a few days before the new Vanarama National League North campaign gets under way with a trip to Curzon Ashton.
And it is understood that won’t be the end of the transfer activity at Steel Park with Wright also hoping to snap up two more additions in the striking department.
Brown, a former England C international, has also enjoyed spells at Reading, Yeovil Town, Leyton Orient and Aldershot Town during his career.
And Wright was delighted to add more experience to his squad so close to the big kick-off.
The Steelmen manager said: “We are absolutely delighted to have secured Aaron’s services and bring him to Steel Park.
“He will give the whole team a massive boost ahead of the season opener at Curzon Ashton on Saturday.
“He is a tall, commanding and experienced centre-back and will be a key player for us this season. Bringing in a player of his quality gives me some more options and tough decisions to make ahead of Saturday.
“We are continuing discussions with potential signings that have been identified to improve our attacking options.
“I would like to see another striker or two at the club before the weekend and we will hopefully be able to make an announcement on that in the coming days.”
