Tommy Wright is expecting “one or two moves” at Corby Town this week as they begin their final preparations for the start of the Vanarama National League North campaign.
The Steelmen are gearing up for the curtain-raiser at Curzon Ashton on Saturday and signed off their pre-season schedule with a 3-1 defeat against a Leicester City XI at Steel Park last weekend.
Two late goals condemned last season’s Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division champions to defeat after Duane Courtney had brought them level with his first goal for the club.
But, despite the loss, boss Wright insists he is feeling confident about the step up his team are about to take and that confidence could be further boosted by further additions to his squad ahead of the big kick-off.
“I am happy and I am confident going into next Saturday,” the Steelmen boss said.
“Nothing is worrying me. The lads are fully fit. We looking strong and organised and I am happy.
“We have got the momentum off the back of winning the league but we are going into the unknown a little bit.
“It’s a big week and if things are going to be done they will be done by Wednesday before our final training session on Thursday. I think there will be one or two moves. If I can one or two this week then I will be feeling even more confident.”
