Mark Peters suffered his first defeat as caretaker-manager of Corby Town as Chris Henry’s late goal handed St Albans City a 1-0 win in the Calor League Premier Division.
Peters named an unchanged starting line-up from the one that beat Hinckley United 3-1 on Bank Holiday Monday.
The Steelmen did add a new signing to their squad at the end of the week with Claudio Dias signing on a month-long loan from Northampton Town and he was handed a place on the substitutes’ bench alongside the returning Chris Carruthers.
The first half was goalless, although Peters did make a double tactical substitution late in the period when Josh Moreman and Dias came on for Tom McGowan and Tom James respectively.
It remained tight in the second half but the game was decided late on when Henry grabbed the only goal for the hosts.
Steelmen line-up: Walker, Ives, Jelleyman, McGowan, Malone, Ingram, Shariff, Hurst, Berwick, Moyo, James. Subs: Moreman, Arber, Vieira, Dias, Carruthers.
