Corby Town are hoping Reece Webb will be fit for this weekend’s trip to Warrington Town after boss Tommy Wright admitted his team missed the midfielder’s presence in midweek.
Webb suffered an Achilles injury during last Saturday’s dramatic 4-3 victory over Blyth Spartans at Steel Park and didn’t feature in Tuesday night’s 1-0 defeat at Evo-Stik Northern Premier League leaders Buxton.
But Wright is hoping the midfielder, who has been a consistent performer since arriving in the summer, will be fit in time for this weekend’s trip.
“We did miss Reece’s presence and work-rate in the midfield,” Wright said.
“It was a kick to his Achilles and he came to me and said he was struggling. We took a look at him and he wasn’t ready for Tuesday.
“So we will work with him and try to ensure he is fit for Saturday.”
Wright, meanwhile, believes he does have “options” when it comes to bringing in further fresh faces at Steel Park.
But looks set to resist that temptation for the time being at least.
“It’s a stage of the season where agents and players want moves so there are options,” he added.
“But, despite the defeat on Tuesday, we have got ourselves on a better run of form and I am not going to go around changing everything after that slip-up.”
The Steelmen’s clash at Warrington this weekend is followed by a home match against Stourbridge at Steel Park next Wednesday night (7.45pm).
