Corby Town’s problems on the road continued as they were dumped out of the FA Carlsberg Trophy at the first hurdle as Daventry Town took the honours in the county derby at Communications Park.

The hosts, who are top of the Calor League Division One Central, came from a goal down to beat the Steelmen, who are still yet to claim a win away from Steel Park this season.

The Steelmen made one change to their starting line-up with Nathan Fox coming in to replace Tom James, who left the club during the week.

New arrivals Nathan Rooney and Jake Healy were both handed place on the substitutes’ bench.

It was Corby who drew first blood when Tom Berwick fired them in front after just 17 minutes.

But the hosts got back into it when Ashley Robinson equalised eight minutes before the break and he also went close soon after.

And it was Daventry who claimed a place in the next round when Tom Lorraine grabbed the winner with 11 minutes to go.

Steelmen line-up: Walker, Thomas, Fox, Malone, Gascoigne, Carruthers, Berwick, L Hendrie, Wright, McGowan, Shariff. Subs: Ives, Carpenter, S Hendrie, Rooney, Healy.
