Nat Wedderburn’s late strike earned Corby Town a priceless victory as they moved out of the bottom three in the Blue Square Bet North with a 1-0 success at Gloucester City.

The Steelmen fell into the relegation zone on Thursday after Colwyn Bay continued their fine run of form with a 3-1 win over Oxford City.

But Wedderburn struck in the 86th minute to seal the Steelmen’s victory at Whaddon Road and, coupled with Histon’s 1-1 draw with Boston United, it now means the Stutes are in the bottom three.

Histon still have a game in hand, which is at Solihull Moors in midweek while Colwyn and Bishop’s Stortford both won to move further away from trouble.

The Steelmen have one game left when they take on Gainsborough Trinity at Steel Park next weekend.

Steelmen line-up: Walker, Crowe, Ives, Abalimba, Piergianni, Malone, Semple, Wedderburn, Kaziboni, King, Webb. Subs: Galinski, Richardson, Vieira, Greer, McGowan.
