Corby Town were on the end of a shock in the NFA Hillier Senior Cup semi-final as they went down 2-0 at ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Premier Division side Peterborough Northern Star.
As expected, Tommy Wright made significant changes. although he did give starts to Elliott Chamberlain and Claudiu Hoban.
But the young Steelmen found themselves 1-0 down after just four minutes when Jordan MacLeod opened the scoring after good play from Josh Sanders.
Chamberlain hit the post and while MacLeod had a shot cleared off the line at the other end.
But Corby were presented with the chance to equalise before the break when Hoban was fouled in the area.
However, Hoban was unable to beat home goalkeeper Dan George as he saved the resulting penalty.
Wright made further changes in the second half as he utilised the younger members of the squad.
And Corby’s hopes were ended with 18 minutes to go when a cool finish from Jason Kilbride made it 2-0.
