Corby Town will take on Poole Town for the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division title next weekend after the Steelmen claimed a crucial 1-0 win at Weymouth.
Greg Mills grabbed the only goal of the game with seven minutes to go to ensure the race for automatic promotion will go down to the final day of the season.
The top two will go head-to-head in a winner takes all encounter after Poole won at Chesham United to remain a point behind the Steelmen.
Poole could go back to the top if they avoid defeat at Weymouth on Tuesday night but, either way, Corby will have a chance to claim the crown.
Tommy Wright handed recalls to the starting line-up to Connor Kennedy, Elliott Chamberlain and Ben Milnes as Wilson Carvalho, Kalern Thomas and Brad-Lee Gascoigne all dropped to the bench following last weekend’s 2-1 defeat at Truro City.
The opening period proved to be a tight affair with few chances for either side.
Corby started brightly with Chamberlain shooting wide after he was one-on-one with goalkeeper Jason Matthews.
But it was more open after the break and Stewart Yetton went close for the hosts while Cleveland Taylor’s free-kick was tipped onto the bar by Matthews.
Yetton went close again with a header but the crucial moment arrived on 83 minutes when Mills fired home from 18 yards to secure a priceless three points for Wright’s side.
So it’s all off to Poole next weekend. Will the last one to leave Corby please turn out the lights...
