Ryan Robbins hit a hat-trick as AFC Rushden & Diamonds eased into the semi-finals of the NFA Hillier Senior Cup with a 6-1 demolition of Wellingborough Town at Hayden Road.
Diamonds dominated proceedings from the first whistle and Darryl Smith headed them in front after 10 minutes before Tom Lorraine set recent signing Robbins up for his first of the night soon after.
The game was held up for a short while following a floodlight failure but when the lights came back on, Diamonds made it 3-0 before half-time with Smith sweeping home his second.
The theme continued after the break. Wellingborough goalkeeper Jack Riley suffered an injury and was replaced by Oliver Reynolds, whose first involvement saw him kick the ball to Robbins who was left with an easy finish.
Fernando Bell-Toxtle made it five with a good strike from the edge of the box before Chief Boateng set Robbins up for his hat-trick.
The Doughboys got a deserved goal for their efforts through Ben Baines but it proved to be a comfortable night for Diamonds.
Elsewhere, the clash between Daventry Town and Kettering Town was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
But two other semi-finalists were confirmed as Brackley Town beat Peterborough Northern Star 3-1 while Peterborough Sports booked their spot with a 7-0 hammering of Cogenhoe United.
