Andy Peaks insists AFC Rushden & Diamonds’ top-of-the-table clash with St Ives Town at the Dog & Duck tomorrow (Tuesday) night is “just another game” for his side.
Diamonds sit just a point behind leaders St Ives in the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central with two games in hand after Claudiu Hoban’s late goal sealed a 1-0 success at Petersfield Town on Saturday.
St Ives maintained their narrow advantage at the summit with a 2-0 victory over Kings Langley at the weekend.
The two teams shared a 2-2 draw early on in the season and Peaks believes it will be interesting to see “how far both sides have come since then”.
“It is going to be a nice game for everyone,” the Diamonds boss said.
“We are the top two in the division and the fact that we play each other in the next match does make things interesting.
“I am still not that concerned about the league table. It is still early and all I want us to focus on is picking up points.
“The win on Saturday was a massive one for us and it keeps the momentum going.
“It’s just another game tomorrow night and we have to give them respect.
“We have already played them once, it was a good game that ended in a draw.
“It will be interesting to see how far both sides have come since then.”
