Corby Town maintained their charge in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division with a 2-0 victory over Frome Town at Steel Park.
Two goals from Shane Byrne came in the second half after Wilson Carvalho had put the Steelmen 1-0 up at the break.
It all ensured a third home win in a row as Tommy Wright’s continued their impressive form of late.
With Paul Malone having had successful surgery on his double leg break suffered during the 5-1 win over Weymouth, Edi Appleton came in to partner Herve Pepe-N’Goma at the heart of the defence.
The Steelmen started well with Greg Mills firing over and Carvalho curling an effort wide.
But the hosts took the lead just before the half-hour when Ben Milne’s excellent pass found Carvalho who beat Darren Chitty in the visiting goal.
N’Goma went close to doubling the lead before the break but his header hit Cleveland Taylor and spinned out of play.
Frome had an effort ruled out for offside early in the second half but the Steelmen doubled their advantage on 69 minutes when Shane Byrne fired home an excellent volley from the edge of the box.
And Byrne rounded things off with another fine goal late on to wrap up the victory.
