Andy Peaks is ready for “another big game” as AFC Rushden & Diamonds take on Cambridge City at Hayden Road tonight (Tuesday).

In-form Diamonds moved into the second automatic promotion place after a 2-0 success at Ashford Town (Middx) at the weekend.

But it is sure to be a tough test this evening with Cambridge sitting in fifth, just one point behind Diamonds.

However, Peaks firmly believes his team are a match for any other side in the division as they bid to maintain a fine run of form in the league, which has seen them lose just one of their last 10 matches.

“It’s another big game and hopefully we will have a big crowd in for it,” Peaks said.

“We have had great support in the last two home games and we had it again at Ashford on Saturday.

“We know we are up against another good team. I have watched them a couple of times and it’s another game which isn’t going to be easy.

“Every team in this league is capable of beating any other on their day.

“It’s all about how we set up and perform and if we are working hard and defending well then we are going to give any team a game.”

Diamonds, meanwhile, will have a new face in their squad this evening.

Last night, the club confirmed they have completed the signing of Jack Westbrook from Evo-Stik South League Premier side Banbury United.

The 22-year-old defender, who can also play as a defensive midfielder, made over 150 appearances for the Puritans.
