Local clubs discover their fates for next season's FA Cup, FA Trophy and FA Vase

AFC Rushden & Diamonds have been handed plenty of home comfort after the draws for the early stages of next season's FA Cup, FA Trophy and FA Vase were revealed.

Diamonds will begin their FA Cup journey with a clash against either Leighton town or United Counties League outfit Sileby Rangers at the Dog & Duck on Saturday, August 20.

Andy Peaks’ team were also handed a home tie with Histon in the preliminary round of the FA Trophy and, if they get through that, will be at home again in the first qualifying round against Coalville Town.

Kettering Town and Corby Town will also be on home territory in the first qualifying round of the FA Trophy on October 29.

The Poppies will take on Market Drayton Town at Latimer Park having beaten the same opponents 5-0 away from home in the FA Cup last season.

The Steelmen, meanwhile, will entertain Stafford Rangers at Steel Park.

Back in the FA Cup, local UCL clubs Desborough Town and Rothwell Corinthians will both be on the road in the extra preliminary round on August 6 at Tring Athletic and Crawley Green respectively while Wellingborough Town entertain Stotfold.

The early stages of the FA Vase have also thrown up some intriguing ties with Corinthians taking on Burton Park Wanderers in the first qualifying round and Ian Benjamin’s Stewarts & Lloyds up against UCL Division One rivals Whitworth.

The winners of the tie between the Foundrymen and the Flourmen could then travel to Desborough Town in the next stage should they see off Woodford United.

Extra preliminary round: Wellingborough Town v Stotfold, Tring Athletic v Desborough, Crawley Green v Rothwell Corinthians. Ties to be played on Saturday, August 6.

Preliminary round: AFC Rushden & Diamonds v Leighton Town or Sileby Rangers, Wellingborough Town or Stotfold v Bedford or Welwyn Garden City, Tring Athletic or Desborough v Leverstock Green or London Colney, Crawley Green or Rothwell Corinthians v Uxbridge.
