Law wants Poppies to stay in touch with play-off places

After a three-week break due to a run of postponements, the Poppies finally returned to action with a 3-2 defeat at high-flying Weymouth last weekend.

The Poppies are now preparing for a clash at seventh-placed Hungerford Town tomorrow (Saturday).

The break in fixtures has resulted in Kettering dropping off the pace in the battle for a top-five finish and they are now nine points behind Dunstable Town, who occupy the final play-off place, although they do have three games in hand.

And Law is just hoping his team can continue to play every week from now on as they look to force their way back into the reckoning for an extended season.

“We have been through an enforced break and during that time teams have been winning games and put themselves in good positions,” the Poppies boss said.

“We just need to get back playing regularly and we need to do what we can to keep up with the teams above us.

“Obviously we are going to have a lot of home games to come and the sooner we can start playing them the better.

“But we go to Hungerford this weekend and we know it is going to be tough.

“They were very organised and solid the last time we played them and not long ago they went to Chester in the FA Trophy and kept them out for an hour or so.

“Like most fixtures in this league, it will be very difficult.”

Earlier this week Law revealed he is looking to get former Poppies goalkeeper Craig Hill, who has been playing at Barwell recently, back for tomorrow’s game with Paul Walker ruled out after he was injured in a clash of heads last weekend.
