The Steelmen were made to work hard for a third victory in a row at Steel Park and they had to wait until the second half to do their damage.

Top scorer Joel Carta grabbed his 14th and 15th goals of the season before substitute Jake Bettles wrapped things up in the final minute.

Corby remain unbeaten in the league this season and are still a point clear of Bromsgrove Sporting at the summit.

And Kinniburgh said: “You can’t taking anything away from Barton because they came here with a game plan and a decent side.

“They were very physical, very strong, very organised and knew exactly what their game plan was. You have give a lot of credit to them because they stayed in the game for long periods and had chances.

“But I think that brings us onto what we have done. The character shown was immense.

“It was a completely different challenge for us. We came in at 0-0 at half-time and we had settle ourselves into what we are good at.

“We managed to do that and when the first goal came in you saw us kick on. We got three goals against a good team and it’s a magnificent result.”

The Steelmen now have a busy week ahead of them as they take on Brackley Town in the quarter-finals of the NFA Hillier Senior Cup at Steel Park on Wednesday night before a big league clash at third-placed Peterborough Sports next weekend.

“Brackley are two divisions above us and we will need to go out and put on a good display,” Kinniburgh added.

“We will look at it and put a team out that we think will do a job for us.

“And then we will look at Peterborough which is another game against a team who are in and around the top.

“We have got a couple of hard games coming up and it is another test for the boys.”
