Kinniburgh is content after Steelmen's positive reaction

Steve Kinniburgh was satisfied with a point as Corby Town bounced back from their defeat at Frickley Athletic with a 1-1 draw against Cleethorpes Town at Steel Park.

The Steelmen caretaker-manager was seeking a reaction from his players after they had lost 3-0 the previous week. And he got what he was looking for as an impressive second-half display saw them draw level through Sam Mulready after the visitors had taken the lead through Daniel North on the stroke of half-time.Corby had other chances to go on and win after they had equalised but the point against their fellow high-fliers keeps them in the mix at the top end of the Evo-Stik League South. And Kinniburgh said: ““When you have a result and performance like last week the biggest thing was how we reacted.“Were we going to have a positive reaction or a negative reaction off that?“And after that 90 minutes I think everybody in the ground could see it was a positive reaction.“When you have a bad result, you can’t do anything about it. You have to move on quickly and the boys did.“We had a good week in training and we were unlucky not to get the three points. You don’t always get them and the next best thing is a draw.“The lads have got to be happy with that. We were probably two or three inches from winning the game with Jordon Crawford hitting the post and Sam Mulready’s header just going the wrong side of the crossbar.“It was an all-round good performance. It was as good as a performance as we have had without getting the win but I am happy with a point.”Kinniburgh, meanwhile, was delighted with the contributions of new signing Dino Tuksar, who set up Mulready’s leveller, and Romanian winger Visan-Vasile Cretu who was handed his first start for the club.“They did great, I was absolutely delighted with them,” Kinniburgh added.“Teams are going to be watching what we are doing because of the good run we are on.“We have to be a bit cute to that and we have to understand that we are a team that people will want to come and get at. We have to adapt to that.“One of our big points this season has been Jordon coming in from the left-hand side onto his right foot and Cleethorpes would have been expecting that.“So we changed it up, we had Dino coming in, he has got a lot of pace and he has got a cracking left foot, which showed for the goal.“The boys who have come in have reacted really well and the boys who weren’t involved have reacted really well. You saw Phil Trainer coming on and making a difference and Jordan O’Brien using his pace.“It’s not just about 11 players who start. We have got a squad of 16 or 17 boys and they will be used at different times.”
