Dean Thomas has hailed the attitude of his Kettering Town players as they get ready for their latest friendly outing on Saturday.
The Poppies travel to Calor League Premier Division side Banbury United having picked up three wins from four pre-season matches so far this summer.
And Thomas believes this weekend’s clash will be a good opportunity for him to see how far his players have come.
“I am pleased with the way things have gone,” the Kettering manager said.
“We have got the makings of a spirited dressing-room and the lads seem to have bonded really well in a short space of time.
“They have shown a very positive attitude, training has been good and now we have to see if we can go and perform against teams from a higher level in the next few weeks.
“Games against the likes of Banbury, Barwell and Stamford will give us a chance to gauge how far we have come. It will be interesting to see how we perform from a physical, tactical and organisational point of view.
“But I am happy with what has been done so far. We need to keep it going.”
Thomas is due to add a new right-back to his squad tonight following the departure of Mark Hackett due to work commitments.
And the Poppies boss insists he is happy with the way his squad has shaped up.
“Of course, you are always on the lookout,” he added.
“But I think we have a decent squad on board. I am pretty happy with what is available to us at the moment.”
