Marcus Law believes Kettering Town’s pre-season programme will “offer different challenges”.
The Poppies added two more fixtures to their build-up to the next Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division campaign with friendlies against Solihull Moors and Spalding United being fitted into an already busy schedule.
Vanarama National League side Solihull, who knocked Law’s team out of last season’s FA Cup in the fourth qualifying round, will provide the opposition for Kettering’s first home friendly on Thursday, July 22 while Northampton Town will visit Latimer Park for the NFA Maunsell Cup final two days later.
The Poppies will begin their friendly programme at Brackley Town on July 18 and Law is pleased with the way the build-up is looking.
“The pre-season programme was something that was being looked at back in February and we have got some good fixtures organised,” the Kettering boss said.
“I think one thing that was disappointing last summer was a lack of decent home friendlies and that is something that has been rectified.
“We still have one more to confirm against Macclesfield Town but the games we have in place will offer different challenges as we prepare for the new season and we are happy with it.”
As far as the recruitment process is concerned, Law and the club are once again keeping their cards close to their chest.
The Poppies boss admitted “conversations and meetings” having been taking place with members of last season’s squad as well as fresh transfer targets.
But registrations with the Southern League can’t be made until July 1 and it seems Kettering will wait until then before revealing any details.
“There have been lots of conversations and meetings going on,” Law added.
“Some have made verbal agreements with us and some are still waiting to see what else might be out there for them.
“The conversations will continue and cwhen registrations can be done and signings can be completed, I am sure everything will become a lot clearer.”
The only players confirmed to be at Kettering for the new campaign so far are goalkeeper Paul White and midfielder James Brighton after they signed new deals at the end of last season while Lewis Hornby, Ben Bradshaw, Ben Baker and Jack O’Connor are already under contract.
