Kettering Town winger Wilson Carvalho has received a six-match ban after being sent-off in the 1-0 home defeat to Bedworth United earlier this month.
Carvalho was dismissed early in the second half of the clash at Latimer Park as the Poppies suffered a loss and a devastating blow as they eventually missed out on a place in the Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division play-offs.
The club have confirmed that the referee reported the offence that led to Carvalho’s red card as a “spitting offence”.
The winger has already received a fine from the Football Association and is now set to be punished by the club as well.
A statement from the Poppies said: “The sending off offence was reported by the match referee as a spitting incident, which Kettering Town Football Club does not in any way condone.
“And the player is also subject to a club fine under our own code of conduct.”
Carvalho’s six-match ban starts with immediate effect, meaning he will miss the NFA Hillier Senior Cup final against AFC Rushden & Diamonds at Sixfields on Thursday.
