Poppies owner Jeune becomes Telegraph tea boy

He is nothing if not a man of his word.

On Christmas Eve last year Kettering Town majority shareholder Ritchie Jeune and our sports writer Jon Dunham had a friendly bet.

Despite being well adrift at the foot of the table, Jeune was still adamant the Poppies could escape relegation from the Southern League Premier Division.

Our man was less convinced.

They agreed that, should Poppies pull off the miracle and stay up, Mr Dunham would be made to suffer and be put through his paces during one of the club’s pre-season training sessions.

Alternatively if they did drop down, as ultimately happened, Mr Jeune would become tea boy for the staff of the Northamptonshire Telegraph.

Sticking true to his promise, the workers at Newspaper House found they had a steady supply of hot beverages and even a fine selection of cakes provided by the Poppies new owner.

The bet was paid up - and here is the evidence...
