The Poppies were chasing a second away win in the space of three days but, in the end, had to settle for a point at the Lamb.

The result means they are now three points clear of Stourbridge at the top of the table.

There were chances at both ends in the first half with Paul White producing a good save to deny former Kettering man Aman Verma while Lambs goalkeeper Jas Singh did well to keep out Michael Richens’ header at the other end.

Andrea Borg almost made an immediate impact after he was introduced in the second half but fired over the crossbar while Verma sent an effort just over at the other end.

But it was Kettering who came on strong in the latter stages with Singh making a good stop from a Marcus Kelly free-kick.

And the Poppies could have won it when Brett Solkhon, on as a substitute, headed against the base of the post from close-range before Joel Kettle cleared.

Marcus Law’s team will now turn their attention to the Emirates FA Cup as they make the trip to take on Vanarama National League side Aldershot Town in the fourth qualifying round on Saturday.
