Kettering Town manager Dean Thomas is hoping to hold talks with frontman Kieren Joseph this weekend as he bids to bolster his squad.
The striker is currently on trial with the Poppies and did his chances of earning a deal for the forthcoming campaign no harm with a late double to round off a comprehensive 5-0 friendly success at UCL Premier Division side Harborough Town on Tuesday night.
Thomas takes his side to Suffolk-based Brantham Athletic for their latest pre-season outing on Saturday and he was clearly impressed with what Joseph offered in midweek.
“Kieren put in a lot of hard work on Tuesday and he is very keen,” the Poppies boss said.
“He took his goals well and he wants to do well after maybe losing his way in the past.
“He has been in the professional game before and wants to get himself back on track.
“He should be involved again at the weekend and hopefully we will be able to sit down and talk to him after that.
“It was a good performance on Tuesday. I thought it was comprehensive.
“We played well and we took our goals well, which was very pleasing.”
First-half goals from Jonathon Thorpe, Louis Hamilton and Jake Newman gave the Poppies a 3-0 advantage at Harborough before Joseph’s late brace completed the scoring.
