Dean Thomas believes Kettering Town are ready for the Calor League Division One Central campaign.
The new-look Poppies squad rounded off a decent pre-season with a fine 3-1 success at Stamford at the weekend in their final friendly before the league curtain-raiser at Potters Bar Town on Saturday.
Andy Gooding put Thomas’ side in front inside the first minute and a brace from Jake Newman completed the victory.
And the Kettering manager declared himself happy with his team’s preparations as they gear up for the real thing this weekend.
“We did well, we looked strong and we looked organised,” Thomas said.
“It has been a good pre-season because we have gradually got better and that is the way it should work.
“The lads look fit and they are hungry to do well. They have listened to what we want from them and they understand what is required of them.
“It is a very good unit. There is a lot of togetherness and they enjoyed a good team night out on Saturday.
“All of them have worked hard this summer and they are ready. The key now is making sure they put it all on the pitch when it really matters.”
Dave and Ashley Deeney both missed the victory at Stamford because of injuries but Thomas is hopeful the brothers will be fit for this weekend.
There was better news for Brad Piercewright as he played an hour against the Daniels following a foot problem.
