Kettering Town’s forthcoming Evo-Stik Southern League Premier Division campaign will start where the last one finished.

The Poppies will travel to Dorchester Town on the opening day of the season on Saturday, August 6 after Marcus Law’s team won 4-1 there on the final day of the last campaign as they just missed out on a play-off place.

And Kettering’s credentials look sure to be tested in the remainder of the opening month.

Leamington, beaten in the play-off final in May, are the visitors for the first league match at Latimer Park on Tuesday, August 9 before the Poppies host Hitchin Town on Saturday, August 13.

Back-to-back trips to Redditch United and Basingstoke Town follow on while a home clash with Stratford Town (August 27) and a game at King’s Lynn Town (August 29) complete a busy opening month.

King’s Lynn are the visitors to Latimer Park on Boxing Day and Kettering will start 2017 with a trip to Cambridge City on January 2.

The run-in will see Marcus Law’s team go to Stratford on Easter Saturday, April 15 before they host Cambridge City two days later.

And the regular season will be completed with a short trip to Banbury United on Saturday, April 22.

The Poppies, meanwhile, picked up their second 5-0 win in the space of as many days last night (Thursday) when they beat Rushden & Higham United at Hayden Road in their latest friendly.

Rene Howe scored twice while Nathan Hicks, Nathan Bobowicz and Spencer Weir-Daley added the other goals.

Kettering travel to AFC Kempston Rovers for their next pre-season outing tomorrow (Saturday, 3pm).
