The former Kettering Town and Northampton Town player stepped down following the Flourmen’s final game of the season, which saw them draw 0-0 with local rivals Irchester United on Tuesday night.

Whitworth have endured a tough season and are set to finish in the bottom half and are now on the hunt for a new manager.

Stewarts & Lloyds, meanwhile, have missed out on a place in the Premier Division next season after ON Chenecks were promoted following a 5-0 success at rock-bottom Burton Park Wanderers last night (Thursday).

The Foundrymen’s hopes were all-but ended when they were beaten 1-0 at Olney Town last weekend and Chenecks finished the job with a comfortable win at Latimer Park. S&L head to Lutterworth Athletic for their final game of the campaign tomorrow (Saturday).

Raunds Town rounded off their season with a 2-2 draw at Oakham United in midweek with Josh Davies and Dave Townsend on target for Jim Le Masurier’s side, who have secured a respectable top-eight finish.

Rushden & Higham United round off their season when they take on Chenecks at Hayden Road tomorrow while Thrapston Town have a trip to Buckingham Town.

Wanderers have another tough task on their hands tomorrow when they host champions Sports and the curtain will come down on the Division One season next Wednesday when Wanderers play Irchester at Latimer Park.
