Goal hero Hill misses out as Ar Tarn aim to maintain fine form

Marvin Hill netted twice in the 4-0 thumping of ChromaSport & Trophies United Counties League Pemier Division bottom side Huntingdon Town – he missed a penalty to complete his hat-trick – but has ruled himself out of this weekend’s match at Branch Bros Stadium.

“Marv has other commitments and it’s frustrating,” admitted Ar Tarn boss Chris Bradshaw, whose side have lost just one of their last six games.

“We will see the best of Marv when he gets a run in the side, but that’s not really happened this season and whenever he’s missed a game, someone’s come in and played well.

“He knows he will have to work hard to get his shirt back.”

Ar Tarn do welcome back Mark Redding after a spell on the sidelines for the match at Northern Star, who are without a win in six games.

Bradshaw says he considers Northern Star boss Seb Hayes to be one of his best friends in football, but added: “I have a terrible record there.

“I can’t remember ever getting a win at Northern Star and I’m hoping that changes on Saturday.”

Wellingborough Town boss Jon Mitchell wants to crank up the pressure on relegation rivals Oadby Town with victory at the Dog & Duck tomorrow.

Mitchell’s team could climb above Oadby, who travel to Eynesbury Rovers, with victory over Sleaford Town – and the Doughboys also have a game in hand on them.

Mitchell said: “I think we have a better squad than Oadby.

“We are definitely capable of catching them and dragging them into it.

“We have a game in hand on them and it’s up to us to turn that into three points.”

Mitchell is convinced his side are good enough to stay up, but says their fixture backlog is a concern.

He added: “We’ve had five games called off now and that means we are going to be playing Saturdays and Tuesdays.

“Because of work commitments, we don’t always have everyone available for midweek games and that is a concern.

“But I’m sure the lads who are available will be up for every game.”

Rothwell Corinthians boss Shaun Sparrow is looking forward to “a great week” for the club.

Tomorrow they welcome neighbours Harborough Town to Sergeants Lawn for a crunch UCL Premier Division local derby.

That’s followed by a clash with Kettering Town in the semi-finals of the NFA Hillier Cup on Tuesday night.

Sparrow said: “What a great week.

“Whatever level you play at, you want to play in local derbies and cup semi-finals.

“This is why we are involved in football.”

Sparrow says he wants his side to “have fun” in both matches, particularly the clash with Harborough that could bring Cameron Starsmore back to face his former club after he joined the Bees.

Earlier this season, Corinthians were beaten 2-1 at Bowdens Park after leading at the break.

Sparrow, who comes from Harborough, said: “They got under our skin a bit.

“We weren’t smart enough to deal with it at the time but we know how to turn the other cheek now.

“We possibly put too much pressure on ourselves before the last game. I know I felt more uptight than I’ve felt before a game for a while.

“This time, we won’t be over thinking things. We just haveto go and do what we do.”
