Steve Kinniburgh was forced into two changes from the team that was beaten 3-0 at St Neots Town in the FA Trophy last weekend with Ben Diamond leaving to sign for AFC Rushden & Diamonds while Connor Kennedy was suspended following his red card last Saturday.

Ben Bradshaw returned from illness while Phil Trainer was also restored to the starting line-up and the caretaker-manager named himself amongst the substitutes.

The Steelmen took control early on and Malone had a header cleared off the line before Sam Mulready saw a header of his own come back off the post.

But Corby did take a deserved lead on 28 minutes when Jamie Anton’s pass found Malone and he fired a fine strike into the far corner to break the deadlock.

Malone had another header saved soon after but he didn’t have to wait long for his second as he made it 2-0 when he turned the ball home after his first effort had been blocked.

And it was 3-0 before the break when the visitors’ Johnathan Guy lobbed his own goalkeeper.

The onslaught continued in the second half and Jordon Crawford made it 4-0 with a superb goal as he ran the length of the pitch before curling into the corner.

And, after Dominic Allen had been dismissed for the visitors for a second bookable offence, it was five when Jordan O’Brien scored at the far post after Malone had headed a Steven Leslie free-kick back across goal.
