Having been among the substitutes in the previous two matches, the winger took full advantage of being given a starting role as he produced an impressive display as Diamonds moved back to the top of the Evo-Stik Southern League Division One Central.

Andy Peaks’ side could be knocked off the summit tonight (Tuesday) should Egham Town beat Royston Town.

But Hall insists Diamonds will continue to focus on their own matches, the next of which sees them head to seventh-placed Aylesbury this weekend.

“You always want to be top but we knew going into the game that we were in a good position,” Hall said.

“All we can do is worry about ourselves and not be concerned what anyone else is doing.

“We were disappointed with the result at Northwood but we were down to 10 men so we took the point.

“But going into the weekend the gaffer had watched them and said they were decent so we knew that if we slipped up then we would be punished.

“But we played well as a team and showed why we are where we are. The pitch was the best it’s been for a while and you can only play the conditions, both teams had to deal with it.

“But we got the ball down and played and scored a few good goals. That won’t hurt us going forward.

“It’s always nice to be on the pitch. We have a good squad and that’s not just the 16 because there were others who weren’t on the bench.

“When you get your chance you have to take it and thankfully I scored a hat-trick and hopefully I will get many more.”
